If you wish to live and work surrounded by the stunning views of beaches, consider adding Croatia to your list. This country is famous for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, and with a Digital Nomad Visa, you can stay here for as long as a year. The Digital Nomad Visa in Croatia is a temporary residency permit created for digital nomads, letting remote workers from non-EU/EEA/Swiss countries live and work legally in Croatia. It aims to attract professionals who can work from anywhere. With a Digital Nomad Visa Residence Permit, you can reside and work in Croatia as a digital nomad for six months to a year, acting more like a temporary residence permit than a regular visa. Although the typical temporary stay used to be limited (with a maximum of 18 months and regulations for reapplying after breaks), changes to the Aliens Act from March 2025 now permit non-EU digital nomads to stay in Croatia legally for up to three years under a wider digital nomad framework, pending new regulatory updates.

To be eligible for Croatia’s digital nomad temporary residence permit, applicants must fulfill these requirements:

- Evidence of remote work via a contract or agreement.
- If you are a freelancer, you need to have a business registration.
- A minimum monthly income of €3,295 (about Rs 3,34,215).
- Valid private health insurance that covers your whole stay in Croatia.
- No criminal record certificate from your home country.
- Proof of where you will stay.
- A valid passport that lasts at least three months beyond your planned stay.

How To Apply?

1. Collect all necessary documents, which include:

Proof of remote work
Income verification
Health insurance
Clean criminal record
Accommodation confirmation
Make sure you have copies in both English and Croatian.

2. Submit your application online through the official website. You can also apply at a Croatian embassy or visit the local police station close to where you will be living in Croatia. The visa fees will be as follows:

If applying at a diplomatic mission or consulate (abroad):

Temporary stay: €55.74 (around Rs 5,653)
Long-term visa: €93 (around Rs 9,433)

If applying in Croatia at a police department or police station, the costs may differ:

Temporary stay: €46.45 (about Rs 4,711)
Biometric residence permit fee: €9.29 (approximately Rs 942)
Biometric residence card fee: €31.85 (around Rs 3,230)
Total for fast-tracked residence card process: €59.73 (near Rs 6,058)

3. After approval, you must register your temporary address within the required timeframe, usually within 30 days or six months, based on the entry visa rules. If you enter the country immediately, you need to register your address within 3 days.

4. Go in person to receive your biometric card, which requires you to provide a photo/biometrics and pay the associated fees.
