All clear was given, after a suspicious isolated package was spotted on the tracks at a subway station, which is in the heart of Hollywood shut down Metro Red Line subway service and several major streets on February 10.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Friday an isolated black backpack was reported leaning on the third rail of the tracks at the Hollywood/ Highland station, that is directly underneath the busy Hollywood landmark.
Universal/Studio City and Hollywood/Western stations were also temporarily halted their services, according to Metro officials, causing rail commuters to get stuck at stations all over the city.
People said that they waited for more than an hour and a half in downtown Los Angeles before shuttle busses came to pick them up, and they were finally dropped off at the Universal Red Line station more than three hours later.
A North Hollywood resident Martha Williams explained that nobody gave them information, there were children, old people. She said they all went and that was horrible.
The ‘Bomb squad crew’ of Los Angeles County sheriff evacuated the metro platform and stopped the traffic in both the directions of Hollywood Boulevard. On Franklin Avenue, the Southbound Highland Avenue was also temporarily closed
Famous buildings in the area were also closed like the TCL Chinese and El Capitan theatres were evacuated. The MTA technicians went into the tunnel with deputies and bomb squad crews.
At about 6:45 p.m., the bomb squad gave the all-clear, and a deputy was spotted carrying a large bag out of the station.
Officials were working to clean up the scene and later the traffic was resumed as normal.
