The Volkswagen Tera has recently undergone testing by the Latin NCAP crash test, achieving an impressive 5-star rating. This SUV is positioned as a competitor to the Skoda Kylaq within the Indian automotive landscape. In the evaluations, the Tera received a score of 89.88 percent for Adult Occupant Protection, 87.25 percent for Child Occupant Protection, and a score of 75.77 percent for pedestrian safety. Findings from the tests indicated that the Volkswagen Tera offers significant protection for the knee, neck, and head during frontal offset collisions. While it ensures good protection for the passenger's chest, the driver’s chest protection was assessed as marginal. Additionally, in the dynamic assessment, the Tera achieved 21.75 points out of a possible 24, a full 12 out of 12 for installation, and 9 out of 13 concerning Child Occupant Protection vehicle assessment.

Design-wise, the Volkswagen Tera draws inspiration from the next-generation Tiguan and the refreshed Taos model. As the smallest SUV in the lineup, it features a slim honeycomb grille prominently displaying the Volkswagen emblem, along with stylish LED lighting and distinctive LED DRLs. The front bumper is equipped with two air intakes, and the vehicle sports 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. Specific engine and powertrain details have not yet been disclosed, but sources suggest it is powered by a 1.0-liter TSi three-cylinder petrol engine, producing maximum figures of 116.38 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque.

Although the launch of the Volkswagen Tera in India has yet to be confirmed, the company plans to introduce the vehicle in Brazil by May 2025. It is anticipated that the Tera SUV will enter the Indian market in early 2026, competing with models such as the Skoda Kushaq, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3OO, and Kia Sonet.
