Black- clad anarchists on Sunday has stormed into largely peaceful Berkeley protest against hate. They attacked at least 5 people, including the leader of a politically conservative group who canceled an event in San Francoise amid fears of violence.

More than 100 protesters with shields adorned with words “No Hate”, and waving a flag identifying themselves as anarchists, busted through the police line avoiding security checks and blended with crowd of 2000 peaceful protesters who turned up to demonstrate in a “Rally Against Hate”.

Berkeley police arrested 13 people during demonstrations, 2 for felony assault and 11 for violating weapons or apparel rules. One officer is also injured amid of the protest.

Berkeley authorities have not issued permission for Sunday gathering of right side wing protesters.

Police had set up barricades around the park and thoroughly checked people who entered, to make sure that there are no baseball bats, dogs, scarves, skateboards or bandanas.

At a point the anti rally protester denounced a man for holding “God bless Donald Trump” sign.

A separate group of counter protesters had assembled earlier on Sunday near University of California, Berkeley campus and then joined the anti-rally protesters who already gathered there.
