Kulfi, a treasured dessert from India, has recently gained international fame thanks to Taste Atlas. This well-known food and travel guide published a list of the top 50 frozen desserts worldwide, based on its rankings from July 2025. Kulfi appeared on this list not once, but two times in different forms. The classic kulfi was ranked 8th overall. It is a remarkable achievement for a frozen dessert from India to enter the top 10. The kulfi and falooda combination was ranked separately in 31st place. One could argue that adding falooda transforms the dessert entirely.

Taste Atlas described this Indian sweet in the following way: "Kulfi is a traditional frozen dessert made using whole milk that is cooked slowly. While this long cooking time reduces the volume, it enhances the flavor, giving it a rich, nutty, and caramel-like taste. The dessert is known for its unique cone shape, achieved by using special molds with tightly fitting lids. Kulfi is commonly flavored with Indian ingredients like pistachio, rose essence, and saffron, but some people like to use fruits such as berries for flavor." It also mentioned that kulfi is thicker than regular ice creams due to its method of preparation. Regarding Kulfi Falooda, the guide highlighted that "the entire dessert is often enhanced with various toppings like sweet basil seeds, jelly, or rose essence, and it is commonly decorated with crushed nuts."

Taste Atlas' latest list of top frozen desserts was led by Dondurma from Turkey, Frozen Custard from the USA, and Gelato Al Pistacchio from Italy. Previously, Taste Atlas has highlighted numerous sweet and savory dishes from India. In an earlier ranking, three Indian dishes were listed among the world's 50 best breakfast options. More dishes were included in the ranks from 51 to 100. Misal Pav from Maharashtra received the 18th spot, Paratha, as a whole category, was 23rd, while Delhi's famous Chole Bhature stood at 32nd place overall.
